Asian One plane skids off runway in Intan Jaya, 2 TNI hurt
Flights bound for Sugapa were turned back to Timika as police and the Transportation Ministry probe a possible main-gear problem.
The Cessna 208B PK-LTF operated by PT Asian One Air skidded while landing at Bilorai Airport in Sugapa, Intan Jaya regency, Central Papua, on Saturday morning. Two TNI members, Serka Matheus and Koptu Johar, were injured in the impact, while six other passengers and two crew members were unharmed. The aircraft, serving the Timika-Sugapa pioneer route, departed at 07.40 WIT and arrived at about 08.38 WIT. Initial information said the landing was normal, but when the wheels touched down the aircraft moved left, ran off the runway, and stopped beside the runway area. Police are investigating reports that the plane's tires or main wheels had a problem during landing. The Transportation Ministry said the aircraft suffered damage to the main gear and was coordinating with Airnav Indonesia, airport authorities and Asian One Air management. Several flights to Sugapa were then turned back to Timika.
