Arizona deputies release $4 million ransom notes in Nancy Guthrie case

Authorities in Arizona released two ransom notes tied to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TV host Savannah Guthrie, in a new push to identify her abductors. The Pima County Sheriff's Office said the notes were mailed to a Tucson television station days after Nancy Guthrie vanished from her home on Jan. 31. One demanded $4 million in bitcoin and threatened to raise the amount to $6 million if payment was not made by a later deadline. A second note claimed she died shortly after being taken and was "buried in nature." Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators believe the notes contain distinctive language patterns that could be recognized by someone who knows the writer.
