Argentina rallies from 2-0 down to beat Egypt 3-2 in World Cup

What's next: Lionel Messi's late equalizer and Enzo Fernandez's stoppage-time winner sent Argentina to the quarterfinals.

Argentina stormed back from two goals down late to beat Egypt 3-2 in a World Cup round-of-16 match in Atlanta, keeping the defending champions alive. Egypt took control early when Yasser Ibrahim scored in the 15th minute, then restored a two-goal cushion in the 67th through Mostafa Ziko after an earlier Egyptian goal was wiped out by video review. Lionel Messi had also missed a penalty as Argentina struggled. The comeback started in the 79th minute when Cristian Romero headed in from a Messi delivery. Messi then leveled four minutes later for his eighth goal of the tournament, before Enzo Fernandez scored the winner in stoppage time. Egypt coach Hossam Hassan later criticized the officiating.
