MBG 2026 budget cut to Rp229 trillion, may fall further
BGN has about a month to clean up data and management while prioritizing quality, food safety and 3T areas.
The National Nutrition Agency has temporarily cut the 2026 budget for the Free Nutritious Meals program from Rp268 trillion to Rp229 trillion, and the figure could fall further after governance reviews are completed. Deputy head Agustina Arumsari said the adjustment is being made while the agency rechecks beneficiary targets and improves implementation of the program. President Prabowo Subianto, she said, gave about one month for the overhaul before the final figure is set. BGN also found signs of overlapping services after beneficiary data was matched with Dapodik, including schools served by two SPPG. The review also covers food safety following food poisoning cases. BGN said the focus is no longer on reaching the 81 million recipient target, but on service quality and priority for 3T areas.
