Andi Sultan wins taekwondo gold at Asia Open 2026 in Jakarta
Andi took the Poomsae Freestyle Individual Men Over 17 title with an 8,540 score in the final at Senayan.
Indonesian taekwondo athlete Andi Sultan won the gold medal at the 8th Asian Taekwondo Indonesia Open Championships 2026 at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday (2/8). Andi defeated his opponent in the final of the Poomsae Freestyle Individual Men Over 17 event with 8,540 points. The victory ended with the Red and White flag being raised after the final. The championships run from 1-5 August in Jakarta. At the opening, the World Taekwondo G2 event was said to feature 531 athletes from 36 countries. Indonesia hosted the tournament after a bidding process in 2025. The championships were held through a collaboration between Pengurus Besar Taekwondo Indonesia and TNI.
