Amri/Nita reach last 16 at 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi

Indonesian mixed doubles pair Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah advanced to the last 16 of the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi, India, after beating Emre Sonmez/Yasemen Bektas of Turkiye in straight games, 21-14, 21-10. The round-of-32 win made Amri/Nita the first Indonesian pair to secure a place in the last 16. Nita said they had to play more tactically because their opponents had a strong defense. In the first game, the Indonesian pair also adjusted their pattern of play after being affected by the wind before finding more comfort in the second game. Amri said the roughly three-day break before their opening match helped them recover, adapt to the court and stay focused. In their first appearance at the World Championships, Amri/Nita are now targeting a medal.
