Aceh woman and baby allegedly killed in Sepang; 1 suspect held

BP3MI Aceh says the victim went to Malaysia through informal channels, and the bodies are scheduled to be returned on June 24.

Putri Hensy Aprilda, 22, a resident of Gampong Alur Manis, Aceh Tamiang, and her baby, just a few days old, were found dead in Sepang, Selangor, and are believed to have been victims of murder. Information received from the KBRI Kuala Lumpur said a Malaysian woman has been detained since June 19 and the case is being handled by Polisi Diraja Malaysia. Early findings point to a debt dispute as the possible motive. The baby's body was found by local residents and taken to Rumah Sakit Klang in dead condition, then moved to Rumah Sakit Shah Alam, while Putri Hensy's body is at Rumah Sakit Serdang. BP3MI Aceh later said the victim was not registered in the official migrant worker system, leading to suspicion she went to Malaysia through nonprosedural channels. KBRI Kuala Lumpur is now overseeing the investigation and the repatriation of the bodies to Aceh.
