About 5,000 residents pack Polres Jakpus for World Cup final watch party
The early-morning event ended safely and orderly, while the Spain-Argentina final also drew mass viewings in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
About 5,000 residents crowded the Metro Jakarta Pusat Police headquarters early Monday morning to watch the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on a video screen. The event, held by Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat, ran safely, orderly and smoothly until it ended. Metro Jakarta Pusat Police Chief Reynold EP Hutagalung said the watch party was used as a space for interaction between police and residents, while helping keep public order and security conditions conducive. Similar enthusiasm was also seen at other locations in Jakarta, including Lippo Mall Kemang, which was packed with thousands of spectators before kick-off. In Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian government also prepared a giant screen at Dataran Merdeka to accommodate thousands of residents watching the title match.
