81-year-old driver hits Katong bus-stop bollard; 2 taken to hospital

What's new: The bollard appears to have stopped the car from reaching people waiting at the Amber Road bus stop.

An 81-year-old woman and her 42-year-old passenger were taken conscious to Raffles Hospital after their car skidded into a protective bollard at a bus stop in Katong on Nov. 6. Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted at about 3 p.m. to the crash on Amber Road toward Haig Road. Photos from the scene showed the sedan mounted on a curb with its front end crumpled against the bollard as several people stood nearby at the bus stop. Police said the driver is assisting with investigations. The incident came as Singapore traffic police have reported a continued rise in road accidents and injuries in the first half of 2026.
