8 get 30 to 100 years in Texas ICE detention center shooting case

What's next: Benjamin Song plans to appeal after receiving the longest sentence for the July 4, 2025 attack that wounded an officer.

Eight people were sentenced Tuesday to prison terms of 30 to 100 years for a July 4, 2025 attack outside the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, where a police officer was shot and wounded. Benjamin Song, whom prosecutors identified as the organizer and gunman, received 100 years after his attempted murder conviction. Seven others drew terms ranging from 30 to 70 years on charges tied to rioting, terrorism support and, for Daniel Rolando Sanchez-Estrada, concealing documents. Defense lawyers argued the group had planned a protest supporting detainees and disputed any link to antifa. Another defendant, Ines Soto, is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
