7 Europe flights searched after bomb threats disrupt air travel

What's new: Authorities found no explosives, but multiple countries are examining whether the threats were coordinated.

Seven passenger flights across Europe were searched, diverted or forced into unscheduled landings after suspected bomb threats, disrupting travel in Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Poland and Hungary. Officials said no explosives were found on any of the aircraft. The affected flights involved Ryanair, Wizz Air, LOT Polish Airlines and SAS. In Rome, two Ryanair flights from Lisbon and Dublin were checked at Fiumicino, with the Dublin plane escorted by the Italian Air Force. A Ryanair flight from Manchester was searched in Murcia, while flights to Sofia, Warsaw and Budapest also faced emergency security procedures. British authorities described the incidents as malicious hoaxes, and officials across Europe were expected to cooperate to assess whether the threats were linked.
