5 Senate Democrats press for Trump crypto hearings over UAE ties

What's new: The lawmakers cited a disclosure showing about $1.4 billion in Trump family crypto income and a reported 49% World Liberty stake tied to the UAE.

Five Senate Democrats renewed their push Friday for congressional hearings into President Donald Trump's cryptocurrency holdings, arguing his latest financial disclosure raises national security and conflict-of-interest questions. The lawmakers asked Republican-led committees to examine the Trump family's crypto business, including World Liberty Financial, before senators return to Washington next week. In a letter, the senators said Trump's 2025 disclosure showed roughly $1.4 billion in income from family crypto ventures during the first year of his second term. They also pointed to reporting that a group tied to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates' national security adviser, bought a 49% stake in World Liberty. The White House has said Trump's assets are held in a trust managed by his children.
