4 Rafale and 2 A400M cross Istana on Indonesia's 81st anniversary
The flypast marked the debut of the Air Force's two newest fleets, with Rafale High-G Turn maneuvers reaching more than 9G.
Four Dassault Rafale fighter jets and two Airbus A400M Atlas transport planes of the TNI AU carried out their first flypast over Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, during the 81st anniversary ceremony of Indonesia's independence on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026. In front of President Prabowo Subianto, the "Panther Flight" formation performed High-G Turn maneuvers at least three times. In the maneuver, the gravitational load rose from 1G to 7G and was said to exceed 9G. After that, the four Rafale escorted the two A400M as they passed low in front of the podium in the "Macan Flight" and "Atlas Flight" formations. The aerial display opened with eight joint TNI-Polri helicopters that unfurled a giant red-and-white flag. Republika also reported that the Anka-S drone patrolled over Jakarta to monitor the series of displays.
