3 OPM members killed in Maybrat shootout
Authorities seized an AK-101 rifle, ammunition and phones; one of the dead was identified as Manfret Fatem.
A shootout between a joint TNI patrol and armed OPM Kodap IV/Sorong Raya fighters took place in forested area north of Kampung Kamat, Distrik Aifat Timur, Kabupaten Maybrat, Papua Barat Daya, on Friday (9/10). Three OPM members were reported killed at the scene, while there were no casualties on the TNI side. Initial checks identified one of the dead as Manfret Fatem, who was said to serve as Danops OPM Kodap IV/Sorong Raya. The other two names still under review are Yesias Fatem and Antonius Assem alias Anton Fatem. Authorities also seized an AK-101 rifle, a Caracal weapon, 5,56 mm and 9 mm ammunition, two mobile phones, group insignia, a Bintang Kejora flag and OPM documents.
