3 ICC judges sue Trump administration over U.S. sanctions

What's new: The judges say the penalties cut off banking, credit cards, travel bookings and some health insurance coverage.

Three judges at the International Criminal Court sued President Donald Trump and his administration in federal court in Manhattan, challenging U.S. sanctions imposed on them last year. Judges Kimberly Prost of Canada, Solomy Balungi Bossa of Uganda and Reine Adelaide Sophie Alapini-Gansou of Benin argued the penalties were unlawful and aimed to punish past rulings and pressure future decisions. The sanctions followed the court's arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and an earlier ICC case into alleged war crimes by U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The lawsuit says the measures, imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, have blocked routine financial services and could hinder evidence and arguments in cases before the judges.
