3 Boats Burn in Muara Angke, Police Cannot Process Scene Yet

Three boats that burned at the Muara Angke dock in North Jakarta cannot yet be examined by police because the hulls are still hot after the fire. The Sunda Kelapa Coastal Police criminal investigation unit has set up a police line and questioned two witnesses, but the crime scene processing has been postponed until conditions are safe. Criminal investigation chief AKP Ery Suroto said flames were still visible Sunday night and cooling could take up to a week. The boat owner has also not been questioned because he is still performing umrah. Meanwhile, the North Jakarta and Kepulauan Seribu fire and rescue agency suspects the Sunday morning fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit during repairs or docking, after a witness saw smoke coming from one of the boats under repair.
