28 teams vie for Indonesia berth in Asia Robot Contest

A total of 28 robot teams from public and private universities in Indonesia competed in the Kontes Robot ABU Indonesia (KRAI) 2026 at Universitas Jember, East Java, on 9–12 July 2026. The event, themed “Kung Fu Quest,” serves as the national selection to choose Indonesia's representative for the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2026 in Hong Kong. Universitas Jember Rector Iwan Taruna said robotics combines electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, and creativity to address a range of problems. Beny Bandanadjaja, director of learning and student affairs at the Directorate General of Higher Education, said the best team from KRAI 2026 will become Indonesia's official representative at the Asia-Pacific competition.
