26 passengers on KM Sumber Makmur evacuated near Pulau Panggang
The Tangerang-departing vessel was towed to Pulau Panggang after rough weather and suspected overloading halted its voyage.
A total of 26 passengers and three crew members aboard KM Sumber Makmur were evacuated in waters off Pulau Panggang, Kepulauan Seribu Utara, on Saturday morning after the vessel ran into trouble in rough weather. The North Jakarta and Kepulauan Seribu Fire and Rescue Subagency received the report at 06.50 WIB and dispatched rescue boat KM Satria Biru five minutes later with six personnel. The vessel, which departed from Dermaga Rawasaban, Tangerang, could not continue its voyage because weather conditions worsened and its load was suspected to be excessive. All passengers were transferred to KM Satria Biru in safe condition, while KM Sumber Makmur was towed to Pulau Panggang. At around 07.30 WIB, all passengers and the vessel arrived safely for further handling.
