2 SPPI participants training as Kopdes managers die in military drill
Kemenhan and TNI are reviewing health screening, medical supervision and reporting systems after the two deaths.
Two participants in the Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia program, selected to become managers of Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih and Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih, died during basic military training at a TNI education unit. Anisa Muyassaroh, a participant at Satdik Dodikjur Rindam VI/Mulawarman Balikpapan, experienced a health problem on 18 June before being referred to a hospital and was declared dead from heat stroke. Yonanda Muhammad Taufiq, a participant at Satdik Puslatpur Kodiklatad Baturaja, saw his condition worsen on 17 June and died of cardiac arrest, according to medical information. Kementerian Pertahanan said both participants had passed health checks before training. After the incidents, Kemenhan, TNI and the national selection committee reviewed health screening, medical monitoring, handling of special conditions, and communication and reporting.
