2 Israel Soldiers Killed in Explosion in South Lebanon

The clash intensified as Israel and Lebanon resumed talks in Rome on border security arrangements.

Two Israel soldiers were killed in south Lebanon on Wednesday after an explosive device detonated in their area of operations, according to the Israel military. Israel media reported four other soldiers were wounded, while Republika said seven people were injured in the incident in Majdal Zoun. The blast came as Israel carried out strikes in south Lebanon after alleged violations of the ceasefire by Hizbullah. Lebanon's Ministry of Health said an Israel strike on the town of Tibnin killed at least one person and wounded 12 others. The escalation coincided with the latest round of Israel-Lebanon talks in Rome, after the two sides in June agreed to a U.S.-brokered security arrangement to ease tensions along the border.
