2 Indonesian men advance to Australian Open 2026 semifinals
Alwi Farhan faces a Hong Kong player next, while Ubed meets Dong Tian Yao of China, leaving room for an all-Indonesian final.
Two young Indonesian men’s singles players, Alwi Farhan Alhasny and Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah, advanced to the semifinals of the Australian Badminton Open 2026 at Quaycentre, Olympic Boulevard, Sydney, Australia. Alwi booked his place in the final four by beating Lee Chia Hao of Taiwan 21-18, 21-15. The result also improved on his showing at last year’s Australian Open, when he exited in the quarterfinals. Ubed followed after defeating Justin Hoh of Malaysia 21-7, 21-13 in 38 minutes. In the semifinals, Alwi will face a player from Hong Kong, while Ubed is set to meet Dong Tian Yao of China. If both win, Indonesia could produce an all-Indonesian men’s singles final.
