2 foreigners face theft charges over Changi Airport shoplifting cases

What's new: Police arrested one suspect when he returned in transit two years after a S$350 jacket was taken from Jewel.

Two foreigners are due in court on Aug. 25 over separate alleged shop thefts at Changi Airport and Jewel Changi Airport. Police said a 26-year-old British man took a blue denim jacket worth about S$350 from a display mannequin at Jewel on Aug. 14, 2024, then left Singapore before officers identified him. He was arrested on Aug. 15, 2026, after returning to Changi Airport in transit. In a separate case, a 50-year-old Polish woman allegedly took a S$410 perfume bottle from a Terminal 1 transit-area shop on June 11 and later stole another bottle worth about S$400 from a different outlet. Police arrested her before departure and recovered both items. The man faces one theft in dwelling charge; the woman faces two.
