2.6 Tons of Liquid Meth Seized from MV Ocean Porter in Kepri Waters
BNN said the haul could be turned into 2.8 million narcotic vape cartridges and had an estimated value of nearly Rp8.5 trillion.
A joint team from Bea Cukai, BNN and Polda Kepulauan Riau seized about 2.6 tons of liquid methamphetamine and 1.57 million illegal cigarettes from the Tanzania-flagged vessel MV Ocean Porter in Kepulauan Riau waters on 17-18 August 2026. The ship was secured in waters north of Tanjung Parit and then towed to the PSO dock at Bea Cukai Tanjung Balai Karimun for inspection. Officers found 8 drums and 1 tank containing sharply smelling liquid hidden in the hold; initial tests with defender omega, rigaku and NIK indicated methamphetamine. BNN chief Suyudi Ario Seto said the amount could be processed into 2.8 million narcotic vape cartridges and potentially affect about 14.1 million people. BNN also estimated the economic value at nearly Rp8.5 trillion.
