18-year-old climber evacuated from Gunung Kayu Satu after hypothermia
He was found alive at 06.57 WIT and taken straight to RS Siloam Ambon for medical treatment.
A joint SAR team evacuated Muhammad Syafi'i Alfaruq Dahlan, 18, after he suffered hypothermia while climbing Gunung Kayu Satu in Desa Batu Merah, Kota Ambon, Maluku, on Sunday (21/6). The victim was found alive at about 06.57 WIT, then evacuated from the mountain peak to Rumah Sakit Siloam Ambon. Kota Ambon Search and Rescue Office head Muhammad Arafah said the initial report came from a resident named Niken Ratih at 05.30 WIT. The SAR team then moved to the location and covered about 18 kilometers on foot in roughly two hours. The victim was part of a group of seven Universitas Pattimura students who began the climb on Saturday (20/6) at about 22.40 WIT to camp.
