Whoosh debt restructuring remains on track, details withheld
The government earlier said the plan was completed, while an official announcement is still awaited from the committee led by AHY.
Talks on restructuring the Whoosh high-speed rail project’s debt between Indonesia and China are still under way, and the details have not been made public. Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong in Jakarta on Wednesday said communication with the parties involved and ministries was continuing smoothly. He also said the project financing was not a direct commercial loan to the Indonesian government, but funds from China Development Bank channeled to the project. Earlier, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the restructuring had been completed and only needed to be announced. Rosan Roeslani also said the plan was in the final refinement stage. Amid the process, President Prabowo Subianto formed the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Committee chaired by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.
