Zelensky targets 1,000 drones a day for strikes on Russia
The goal tops a prior average of 300 a day, as Russian attacks on Kyiv, Sumy and Kherson keep killing civilians.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked his military to step up strikes on Russian territory with a target of at least 1,000 drones a day. In a Friday, August 28 speech, Zelensky said the figure was far above the previous average launch rate of about 300 drones a day. He said Ukraine still needs more attacks and has concrete targets to meet. At the same time, Russian attacks on Ukraine continued. In Kyiv, one person was reported killed on Friday. Another attack in Sumy killed a man and wounded seven people, while in Kherson a man was killed and 11 others were injured, including a child. Zelensky also referred to information from the United States about meetings in recent days in Moscow between U.S. and Russian intelligence officials.
