World Cup 2026: Belgium held by Iran 0-0 in Los Angeles

Group G remains without a winner after three draws, and Belgium again failed to make the most of Romelu Lukaku.

Belgium failed to earn its first win in Group G at the 2026 World Cup after being held to a 0-0 draw by Iran at Los Angeles Stadium in the United States on Monday. Romelu Lukaku started in Rudi Garcia's 4-2-3-1 setup, supported by Kevin De Bruyne, Leandro Trossard and Alexis Saelemaekers. Belgium's attack, however, remained blunt. Iran was disciplined, defending compactly and absorbing pressure throughout the match. Goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand and veteran defender Shoja Khalilzadeh also helped keep Iran's net intact. The result keeps Group G tight, with all three opening matches ending in draws. For Belgium, it extends a shaky start to the tournament, while Iran took home an important point from its second group-stage match.
