Worker, 23, killed after formwork fell 5 stories at Jurong Port site
What's new: Singapore ordered HPC Builders to halt all formwork work as investigators examine the Aug. 3 construction death.
A 23-year-old worker died after a formwork structure fell from the fifth story of a building under construction and crushed the lorry he was in at Jurong Port Road in Singapore on Aug. 3. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said rescuers found him trapped in the driver's seat at about 9:50 a.m. and freed him with hydraulic equipment after removing the collapsed structure, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ministry of Manpower said the formwork was being repositioned when it fell and has ordered site occupier HPC Builders to stop all formwork activities during the investigation. The worker was employed by Keehans. Police said preliminary findings do not indicate foul play.
