Gaza residents crowd the beach amid heat and Israeli strikes
The beach has become one of the few open spaces Gaza families still use for a brief respite from displacement camps.
Palestinians crowded Gaza City beach on Monday local time amid searing summer heat and continuing Israeli strikes. Adults and children came to cool off and to find a brief break from life under severe wartime restrictions. Reuters reported that some visitors played in the waves, including surfing. For many families, the beach has now become one of the few public spaces still available for gathering. Ahmed Mukbil said his family deliberately came to the beach to escape for a while from extreme heat and difficult conditions in the displacement camps.
