Wamendagri urges regional leaders to strengthen APIP to curb graft
The Semarang meeting was the third of 10 anti-corruption education sessions run by Kemendagri with KPK, BPKP and LKPP.
Deputy Home Affairs Minister Akhmad Wiyagus urged regional leaders to strengthen the capacity of the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus, or APIP, to prevent corruption in the regions. He delivered the appeal at a coordination meeting on strengthening integrity and preventing corruption in local government in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday, Aug. 20. Wiyagus said many regional leaders come from political or business backgrounds, so they need to keep learning state financial management rules to avoid legal trouble. He stressed that Kemendagri’s role is to guide governance, not only to punish. The meeting was the third cluster in a series of 10 anti-corruption education events held with KPK, BPKP and LKPP.
