Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha to reunite with mother at World Cup

What's new: US officials waived visa fees for Ana Candida Evora, clearing her to attend Sunday's match against Uruguay in Miami.

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha is set to reunite with his mother in Miami after US officials waived her visa fees so she can attend the team's next World Cup match. Ana Candida Evora had missed Cape Verde's historic draw with Spain because the cost of getting a US visa had put the trip out of reach. Hakeem Jeffries said he spoke with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and that the State Department, the Cape Verde government and FIFA helped resolve the case. A State Department official said the visa team in Praia was working directly with her. Vozinha, 40, became one of the tournament's breakout figures after his player-of-the-match display against Spain in Cape Verde's World Cup debut.
