Venezuela quake death toll rises to 4,118

86,794 families have received aid, 17,266 people remain in 89 emergency camps, and 1,171 aftershocks have been recorded.

The death toll from two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to 4,118, with 16,740 people injured. An update from National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez on Friday said 6,462 people have been rescued, while emergency response operations continue in the hardest-hit areas. A total of 86,794 families have received aid. However, 17,266 people are still sheltering in 89 emergency camps across several areas, and 17,907 people have been left homeless after their houses were severely damaged or destroyed. Authorities also recorded 1,171 aftershocks after the twin quakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5, hit the country. For disaster response, 30,076 personnel, 29,843 volunteers, and 3,454 international rescuers have been deployed.
