Vance defends border crackdown in heated clash on 'The View'
What's new: He argued tighter enforcement prevents cartel trafficking, while co-hosts pressed him on deaths and conditions in ICE custody.
Vice President JD Vance clashed with co-hosts of ABC's "The View" on Tuesday over immigration enforcement, defending the Trump administration's border policies as critics raised concerns about detention conditions and deaths in ICE custody. Ana Navarro cited reports of more than 50 deaths in ICE custody and said 6,200 children were being held in facilities including the Dilley Detention Center. Sunny Hostin argued many detainees were not criminals and accused ICE of separating families. Vance countered that weak border enforcement let cartels traffic children into the United States and said authorities had to balance enforcing the law with treating people humanely.
