USS Abraham Lincoln to dock in Thailand after 250 days at sea

What's new: Thai officials said three ships in the carrier strike group will make a brief stop for rest, with no exercises planned.

The USS Abraham Lincoln will make a brief port call in Thailand next week after a deployment that kept the aircraft carrier at sea for more than 250 consecutive days, Thai officials said. Thailand's defense ministry said the stop will give the crew time for rest and recovery before the ship returns to its US base. The Royal Thai Navy said three vessels from a US carrier strike group are due in eastern Thailand and that no drills will take place during the visit. The Lincoln left San Diego in November and has about 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard. Recent reports cited worsening morale, mental health concerns and shortages of food and hygiene supplies during the extended deployment.
