US Supreme Court approval falls to 33% as Trump attacks justices
Why it matters: Republican support dropped 21 points since September, even after a term that advanced several conservative priorities.
Public approval of the US Supreme Court has fallen to 33%, the lowest Gallup reading since it began tracking the court in 2000, as President Donald Trump escalated attacks on justices who ruled against him. A July Gallup survey found Republican support fell to 58% from 79% in September. The drop came after a term in which the court expanded presidential power, strengthened gun rights, cut campaign spending limits and weakened the Voting Rights Act, while also rejecting Trump in cases over global tariffs, birthright citizenship restrictions and his effort to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. Polls now show most Americans believe justices act for political, not legal, reasons.
