Iran launches ballistic missile at U.S. base in Saudi Arabia
It is the first direct Iranian strike on Saudi territory in four months, following the end of seven nights of U.S. military operations in Iran.
Iran reportedly launched a ballistic missile attack on a U.S. military base in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, July 18. A U.S. official told Axios that the attack used ballistic missiles, but it was not yet clear whether the target was hit. Saudi civil defense authorities issued two early warnings for Al Kharj and Yanbu before later saying the danger had passed. The strike marked Iran's first direct attack on Saudi territory in four months. Earlier, according to an Anadolu Agency report cited by CNN Indonesia, Tehran struck a target in Saudi Arabia in early April at the Jubail petrochemical complex. The latest incident came after U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM, said its seven-night military operation against Iran had officially ended on Friday night U.S. time.
