US strikes Iran for 3rd night, moves to blockade Hormuz

The United States hit Iran for a third straight night as President Donald Trump moved to restore a naval blockade around Iranian ports and take control of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command said it struck more than a dozen military targets, including the Bandar Abbas naval base, in an operation meant to weaken Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping. Iran said it fired a cruise missile at a U.S. Navy ship and launched missiles across the Gulf region, including an attack that set a U.S. base in Kuwait ablaze without injuring American personnel. Trump also moved to impose a 20% toll on cargo passing through the strait, a step Iran disputes and a U.N. shipping agency spokesperson said lacks legal basis.
