US strike kills Tren de Aragua leader Niño Guerrero, Trump says
What's new: Trump said the operation was coordinated with Venezuela; Guerrero had been indicted in New York and faced a $5 million US reward.
President Donald Trump said Friday that a US military strike killed Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero, better known as Niño Guerrero, the leader of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang that Washington has designated a foreign terrorist organization. Trump said US Southern Command carried out the strike and released a short video that appeared to show an attack on a structure. He also said the operation was coordinated with Venezuela. In December, a grand jury in New York indicted Guerrero on charges of ordering and facilitating terrorism and violence in the United States. The State Department had offered $5 million for information leading to his arrest or conviction.
