US senators seek probe into Starlink limits that hit Ukraine drones

What's new: The bipartisan letter asks the Pentagon watchdog to examine curbs reported between Oct. 12 and 14 and any impact on air-raid safety.

A bipartisan group of US senators urged the Defense Department inspector general to investigate reported restrictions on SpaceX's Starlink network in Ukraine after Kyiv said drone connectivity was unexpectedly degraded. The letter cites reports that speed caps between Oct. 12 and 14 limited connected weapons to about 100 mph, weakening defensive operations against Russian drone and missile attacks on civilian infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelensky said service was being restored but had not fully returned to previous levels. The senators also pointed to reported glitches affecting intelligence-sharing and threat warnings, including incidents in which US diplomatic, military and security personnel could not reach designated bunkers during Russian air raids.
