US seizes 3 domains used to hack NASA, The Fed, Senate

Washington also accuses the QTFY group linked to a China company of targeting NIH, Energy Department, hospitals and utilities.

The United States seized three internet domains that were said to have been used in hacking operations against NASA, the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Senate and other sensitive networks. The U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI said the domains, tied to the QScan and QTRouter platforms, were operated by the QTFY group, which is suspected of being backed by the China government. According to federal court records in California, QTFY is linked to Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Co. and has ties to a unit of China’s Ministry of State Security. In addition to NASA and The Fed, the targets were said to include NIH, the Department of Energy, the Department of Health and Human Services, electric utilities, hospitals, telecommunications, financial institutions and defense contractors, including in South Korea. U.S. authorities did not specify whether data was successfully stolen. The China Embassy in Washington denied any involvement by Beijing.
