US orders diplomats’ families out of Saudi Arabia after Houthi strikes

What’s new: attacks hit a Saudi airport and the Shaybah oil field, raising risks to civilians, energy sites and regional stability.

The United States ordered non-emergency government employees and their family members to leave Saudi Arabia after a new wave of Houthi attacks on the kingdom. The State Department cited repeated strikes on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure and warned the fighting could escalate quickly. In the latest incidents, an attack on King Fahd International Airport injured eight people, while a drone strike on the Shaybah oil field near the United Arab Emirates border left two people injured, according to BBC. The Houthis have targeted Saudi airports, oil facilities and Red Sea shipping since an informal ceasefire unraveled in July, deepening pressure on a region already rattled by wider conflict.
