A U.S. Marine died Tuesday after a training incident at Camp Schwab in Okinawa, Japan, the 3rd Marine Division said. The division said the death happened on Nov. 3 and that the case remains under investigation. Lt. Tyler Thomas, a spokesperson for the III Marine Expeditionary Force, said the Marine's identity would be withheld until 24 hours after family notification. Thomas also declined to say whether the Marine died at the scene or after being taken to a hospital, and did not say whether anyone else was injured. Camp Schwab sits in Okinawa Prefecture, where a large share of U.S. forces in Japan are based.
