US cyclospora cases top 4,100 as lettuce recall spans 27 states

Confirmed cyclospora infections in the United States have climbed to 4,173 domestic cases across 41 states since May 1, making 2026 the worst year on record for the parasite, according to the CDC. Another 767 cases were linked to international travel, and investigators are reviewing more than 7,400 additional suspected infections. One outbreak involving at least 1,644 cases in five Midwestern and Appalachian states has been tied to shredded iceberg lettuce sold by Taylor Farms and grown in central Mexico. Taylor Farms recalled packaged products containing iceberg lettuce on July 17 across 27 states. Health officials say other foods may also be involved.
