US cyclosporiasis cases have topped 24,000 as investigators trace a multistate outbreak to recalled shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it has recorded 13,895 laboratory-confirmed cases and is aware of another 10,455 that have not yet been confirmed, with 740 hospitalizations overall. Illnesses linked to the outbreak have been reported in at least 15 states, totaling 6,358 cases and 278 hospitalizations tied to the lettuce investigation. Michigan health officials reported two deaths in people with significant underlying conditions. The CDC said the recent pace of new cases has slowed, but a six-week reporting lag means the count is likely to climb further.
