US Army battalion offers 4 days off for GTA VI to reenlisting troops

What's new: 20 of 130 eligible soldiers had taken the offer, which requires at least a two-year commitment.

A US Army battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia, is offering soldiers a four-day pass around the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI if they re-enlist. The offer applies to troops in the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion who sign a new contract between Aug. 1 and Nov. 14, under a memo attributed to battalion commander Lt. Col. Ryan Hodgson. The leave would run from Nov. 20 to 23, tied to the game's Nov. 19 release. A spokesperson for the 3rd Infantry Division told US media that 20 of 130 eligible soldiers had accepted the incentive and that the minimum re-enlistment term is two years. One report said the memo's authenticity was unclear, but multiple outlets described the incentive as a retention and morale measure.
