UNICEF: 265 children in Gaza killed since October 2025 truce

UNICEF also reported more than 400 children injured and warned hundreds of young patients need urgent medical evacuation.

UNICEF said at least 265 Palestinian children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since a truce was announced in October 2025. At a news conference in Geneva on Friday, UNICEF spokesman James Elder described the situation as a “cruel and deadly illusion,” saying an average of one child has been killed each day for more than eight months. UNICEF said children have been killed in homes, schools and public spaces, including while playing soccer or fishing. The agency also said more than 400 children have been wounded, many with severe injuries. Elder highlighted restrictions on medicines and medical supplies that increase the risk of infection, complications and amputations, while hundreds of other children still need urgent medical evacuation.
