Ukraine says Starlink curbs persist as drone losses mount
What's new: Reuters reported US administrations had repeatedly asked SpaceX to switch Starlink on or off in past foreign-policy operations.
Ukraine said Friday that SpaceX was still limiting Starlink and Starshield service despite President Donald Trump’s comments suggesting the problem had been fixed, with officials warning the slowdown is costing the military drone capability on the battlefield. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the restrictions remained in place and speeds had not been restored. Denys Sienik, Ukraine’s deputy ambassador to the US, said Kyiv was still waiting for the curbs to be lifted. Dmitri Alperovitch of the Silverado Policy Accelerator told CNBC the limits were causing Ukraine to lose drones and reducing its ability to strike Russian logistics. Reuters, cited by The Straits Times, reported US administrations had for years asked SpaceX to activate or cut Starlink service in countries including Iran, Yemen, Lebanon and Ukraine.
