Ukraine resumes refinery strikes as Trump-Zelenskyy rift deepens

What's new: A former US ambassador said Kyiv is now less dependent on Washington because US weapons, funding and leadership have dried up.

Ukraine resumed strikes on Russian energy targets after pausing for three days under a ceasefire proposal pushed by President Donald Trump, while Russia kept attacking Ukrainian energy and civilian sites, former US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor said on PBS NewsHour. Taylor said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had little reason to keep holding fire if Moscow never stopped its own attacks. He also said Ukraine is less reliant on the United States than it was 18 months ago because Washington no longer provides weapons, financial support or leadership for the Ramstein military aid process, though US intelligence still matters.
