Ukraine resumes refinery strikes after 3-day energy truce collapses
Why it matters: Kyiv says Russia kept hitting Ukraine’s power grid, while US intelligence alerts and Starlink-linked service were curtailed.
Ukraine will resume attacks on Russian refineries after a three-day pause tied to a US-backed energy ceasefire, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, arguing Moscow did not honor the arrangement. A drone strike in Russia’s Ryazan region set an oil refinery on fire, regional governor Pavel Malkov said. Zelenskyy told the Financial Times that Kyiv had held back attacks at Washington’s request, but Russia continued striking Ukrainian energy sites, including an assault he said left 600,000 people without power. He also said Ukraine lost advance US warning of incoming ballistic missiles and faced restrictions affecting Starlink and Starshield services, which disrupted military operations.
