UK Supreme Court hears challenge to Palestine Action terror ban

What's new: More than 4,000 people have been arrested over support for the group since the 2025 proscription.

Britain’s Supreme Court heard a challenge Tuesday to the government’s 2025 decision to ban Palestine Action as a terrorist organization, with co-founder Huda Ammori arguing the move was disproportionate and weakened counterterrorism law. The Home Office defends the proscription by pointing to escalating attacks on defense-linked sites, including a 2024 raid on Elbit Systems and a break-in at RAF Brize Norton that damaged two aircraft. Ammori’s lawyer, Raza Husain, told the court officials had judged only three of 385 actions over five years to meet the definition of terrorism. The case comes after London’s High Court found the ban unlawful, a ruling later reversed by the Court of Appeal.
